Storytelling, game design, and hybrid forms of play.
In this 9-week workshop, students will explore the art of video game creation—starting from written narrative, moving into visual and mechanical game logic, and culminating in original hybrid games.
We'll begin with Twine and branching narratives, explore tools like GDevelop, RPG Maker, and Construct, and eventually fuse them into expressive, playable works that reflect your ideas, values, and storytelling voice.
Writers, worldbuilders, beginner level game designers, coders-who-don’t-code, and anyone interested in the deep structure of choice and consequence. No prior game design experience required.
We're going to tentatively schedule this to run on Saturdays from 2-4, from June 28th to August 3rd. Note that we're saying tentatively. If there's a time that works a little bit better for you, don't hesitate to let us know over at orangecatwritingworkshop at gmail dot com
