The Struggling Screenwriter's Workshop

You've got an idea for a screenplay. Maybe several. Maybe you've had it for years. Maybe you started one once, got to page twelve, and the blank page won.

This workshop is built for that exact situation. Over five weeks, you'll go from pitch to first act — with your entire screenplay mapped out so that the ending isn't a mystery anymore, just a matter of getting there.

No prior screenwriting experience required. All are welcome.

What You'll Do

Week 1
Pitch Your Movie
Introductions, we get to know one another and our favorite films. We'll go over the bare basics of screenwriting format and then you tell us what you want to write! If you have a few ideas and you don't know where to start, we'll hear all your pitches and help you decide!
Week 2
Map the Story
We break your screenplay into its essential beats, build a scene-by-scene board, and figure out who your characters actually are before you start writing them.
Week 3
Zooming In
You present your full outline. The group asks questions, flags trouble spots, and gets excited about the parts that are working. Then we start writing.
Weeks 4 & 5
Read It Out Loud
First acts get read aloud, cast from the group. You hear your movie for the first time. We talk about what's working, what wants more, and where this thing is going next.

By the End

You'll have the first act of your screenplay written — not perfect, not polished, but it will be there. You'll also have a complete structural map of your entire film, so that finishing isn't a question of "what happens next?" anymore.

Come write the shitty first draft. Revisions will come later.
